Storyline

On a warm, humid morning in the month of May 1886, a wet fog hung like a mystical veil along the Galveston coast.

After making her second visit in three years, the iron barque, Elissa, makes her way slowly out of Galveston Bay headed for deep water and open seas.

On her way out of the bay, the ship passes by a fog shrouded Point Bolivar. It was just before dawn when something off the port side catches the eye of a young sailor on watch.

As the barely visible coastline slides by, there, on a rock, is the dark shape of something or someone moving. Through the mist the sailor sees the shape rise slowly until it is standing upright. He makes out what looks like the shape of a young female! But something's not quite right! Wiping his eyes, he looks again and gasps as he realizes what hi is seeing.

"Oh my God! It's a mermaid!" he yells out.

The others on the deck hear the commotion and look to where the excited sailor is pointing but all their searching eyes are greeted with are barren rocks along the surf pounded shoreline.

"But she was there!", the sailor exclaims.

"She was there I tell you! I saw a mermaid!", his eyes still wide with excitement.

But as he stood there looking at his shipmates, he knew what they were thinking.
"She was there I tell you………..and a vision she was!"

Yes, a……………"Vision in the Mist"
